Matt Gibb was born in Montreal on October 20th, 1991. He grew up in
Repentigny a suburb of Montreal. Being a child with a great need for
creation he satisfied this desire on the stage of his primary school through the theater. It’s at the age of thirteen that he picked up his father’s dusty guitar that was laying in the back of the closet and he began playing. He discovers a new way to express he creativity and he bite in it like a forbidden fruit. He attends Paul-Arseneau High school in the town of L’Assomption, which offers a specialization in arts. He naturally chooses music.
He knows very early on that he wants to become a musician. So, he works hard
to succeed. He carefully chooses the Cégep Marie Victorin in Montreal where
for 2 years he followed a pre-university College Degree in jazz guitar. He then takes
the path to the University of Montreal where he completed in 4 years a double BAC in composition of classical and electroacoustic music. Morning and evening, he makes a 1H30 drive to get to his classes, he is determined to succeed. With
this knowledge in his pocket he has a vision of music that allows him
to explore this universe with an incredible understanding.
In the meantime, he runs events to meet musician with whom he can
share the stage. His love of music continues to grow, it has become
a visceral need that escapes reason. His creative mind is so strong that he cannot keep it in silence. Every time he plays, he creates, because that’s his way of
expression. When you see him on stage you observe a musician in full
creation, his inspiration of the moment blossoms before our astonished eyes. His
ability to play with melodies tears the heart out of the chest of the
audience, he plays with it, manipulates it, transports it and places it back in their
beings.
Having accumulated a wealth of knowledge and stage experience, he
meets love. However, his love journeys came with some difficulties.
Experiences that makes him live through a roller coaster of issues. During this episode of his life, he tries to concentrate on the creation of new music, to put
profit all the efforts of the past. But life does not make it easy for him. Life does not
ceases to torment him, leaving little room for creation and his love for the stage. He feels empty and torn, he has to get out of this heartbreak.
On the edge of an emotional exhaustion he puts an end to this destructive torment and succeeds in regaining control with the help of his loving family. That’s when he finds inspiration, in his blues, to write the album “All the Way”.
Matt Gibb is a talented guitarist who has a special affection for
rock, blues and funk music. He offers you for the first time a series of songs that was created in an environment where the creativity and spontaneity of the
performers have been put forward.
